- A leading provider of list management, list brokerage, compilation,circulation planning, campaign management and online marketing services located in NYC. Position reports to the CEO.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Review General Ledger and Financial Statements on a monthly basis and provide analysis as requested
* Record monthly G/L journal entries and prepare work papers to reconcile G/L accounts
* Assemble monthly work paper books; financial statements and board packages.
* Prepare and audit monthly external client revenue reports
* Prepare monthly internal client revenue and profitability analyses
* Reconcile financial statements to detailed revenue analyses
* Oversee collection of past-due A/R
* Calculate monthly sales commissions accruals
* Facilitate the year-end audit and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
* Assist with annual reporting requirements - 1099\\\'s; W2\\\'s, etc.
* Work directly with business leaders and other senior management to gather information required to produce budgets and forecasts
* Backup specific tasks handled by related positions (Payroll, Daily Banking; Accounts Payable; Cash Application, etc)
* Document processes and workflows.
* Perform financial research and generate ad-hoc analyses as needed
* Complete other special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
* Bachelor\\\'s Degree in Accounting or related major
* Solid understanding of GAAP
* 10+ years overall accounting experience. Public/Private accounting experience mix preferred.
* 7+ years experience as a Controller at a small to mid-size company, or Assistant Controller at a larger company.
* Strong computer proficiency in G/L systems (Great Plains experience a plus) & Microsoft Office suite; advanced Excel skills a must (pivot tables; lookups, etc); Microsoft Access experience
* Strong analytical and organizational skills
* Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, and identify improvements opportunities.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with little supervision
* Must be a team player and self-starter
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work with various levels of management
* Strong work ethic and the desire to learn

Vice President, Operations
Position Description
New England based multi-brand, multi-channel consumer direct-marketing company founded in 1963. The company, with 13 brands, is ranked in the top 150 U.S. online retailers by Internet Retailer magazine. This position will report to the CEO/President and will and be responsible for providing leadership and sound judgment to the day-to-day management of the organization\\\'s
operations departments.
Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for the Call Centers, Warehouse Distribution (in-house and
outsourced), and Building Services in a high transaction volume, multi-channel,
24/7, non-union, consumer direct marketing environment.
• Strategic planning and execution to meet short- and long-term capacity needs and
to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout the Company\\\\\\\'s
operational areas.
• Manage and direct the Operations management staff (4 direct reports).
In this demanding role, the VP of Operations will establish a close working relationship with executive and operations management staff, and maintain effective and open communications between Operations and all functional departments including IT, Merchandising, Marketing, HR, etc. Due to the seasonality of the business, the hourly operations staff more than doubles in size during the peak Fall/Holiday season, creating a significant business challenge.
• This is a critical senior role that requires a full understanding of Fulfillment and
Warehouse management in a B2C company, and will be responsible for recommending and implementing continuous improvement in processes and management methods to increase productivity and lower costs.
• In addition, the VP will develop and direct the Call Center management to ensure
customer satisfaction, improved call handling productivity, low abandonment, and
increased revenue through upsell and promotional programs.
• This position also has responsibility for Safety in Operations and will partner with
HR/Training/Building Services/Safety Committee to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and will roll-out and/or continue appropriate programs to ensure state/federal OSHA compliance is met. The VP of Operations will be responsible for long-term planning and budgeting to meet future needs and compliance, including working closely with executive staff on strategic initiatives and evaluation of potential acquisitions and associated integration and support requirements.
Requirements:
• Bachelor\\\\\\\'s degree required; MBA preferred.
• Experienced consumer-direct operations executive who has generated significant
impact through the strategic and tactical direction of both B2C fulfillment centers
and inbound call centers. Must have the ability to motivate a large workforce in a
fast-paced environment. Experience successfully negotiating freight and services
contracts. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance rules as it relates to
Call Center, Fulfillment and Building Services areas.
• Strong preference will be given to those candidates with prior experience in a
consumer catalog company or more generally, a direct to consumer
environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and success in running large-scale operation
functions, and communicating and interfacing across functional areas in the
organization. Ability to make effective decisions and manage concurrent
activities and projects in a fast-paced environment.

written and listening), and a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism.
Communication skills will be also be needed to build collaborative relationships
both internally and externally.
• An entrepreneurial spirit, high-energy level, significant commitment, and
demonstrated interest in supporting and helping to grow the company (prior
experience evaluating acquisitions would be a plus).
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel & Outlook.
